Bayern Munich confirm Pep Guardiola will become the Bundesliga side's new manager from July.
The 41-year-old has been out of management since leaving Barcelona 14 months ago and it was widely speculated he was in contention to become Chelsea manager this summer.
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, speaking about the appointment of Pep Guardiola as manager from July: "Pep Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches in the world and we are sure that he can make not just Bayern, but all of German football shine."
Uli Hoeness, Bayern Munich chairman adds: "As an adequate replacement for Heynckes only [someone] of Pep Guardiola's calibre came into question."
Current Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes will remain in his post until the end of this season.
