Wild scenes greet Mario Balotelli as AC Milan fans welcome former Manchester City striker

Why always him? Hero worship, paparazzi scrums and outbreaks of sporadic violence; former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli receives a fittingly unhinged welcome in Milan.

Italian international Balotelli completed the formalities of his transfer from Manchester City to boyhood club AC Milan on Wednesday and met with club vice-president Adriano Galliani at a restaurant in the centre of the city in the evening.
Hundred of fans turned out to greet their new hero, with some sporting a No 45 shirt - the same number the 22 year-old striker wore at Inter Milan and at City.
"If Mario (Balotelli) does what he's able to do, he is the strongest and with him we will win everything," said one fan, who gave his name only as Marco.
Fans sang and chanted noisily outside the restaurant.
