It looks as though a Twitter Beef with Rihanna has hurt Teyana Taylor’s pocket.
Last week, after speculation that G.O.O.D Music’s first lady had been dropped from Adidas, her rep denied those claims while stating that her new ‘Harlem GLC’ kicks had been put on hold. Today, a Senior PR Manager at Adidas has confirmed that the brand will no longer be partnering with Teyana.
In a statement to Madamenoire, they wrote:
We have ended our relationship with Teyana Taylor and do not have any upcoming product launches with her.
When asked if the relationship ended over Teyana’s twitter spat with Rihanna that involved her changing her Twitter header to a photo of Rihanna’s battered face, Adidas responded:
All I can say is that Adidas partners with athletes and artists who blend well with our brand values. We evaluate our relationships with partners based on the values we hold at adidas and we don’t condone violence of any kind.
There may be sad news for Teyana on the Adidas front, but Kanye is definitely smiling after inking a deal with the shoe brand worth $10 million plus royalties. Yesterday, Adidas announced that he is officially part of their family:
“For 2014, we welcome to the Adidas family one of the most influential cultural icons of this generation, Kanye West. Well known for breaking boundaries across music, film and design and partnering with our history in street wear culture and leading innovations in sport, we look forward to creating a new chapter. Details to follow.”
The news comes weeks after Kanye started a tirade against Nike for not giving him a release date for his Air Yeezy 2 Red October sneakers, as well as the company failing to pay him royalties on the his past designs.
He told Angie Martinez:
“The old me might have taken this Nike deal because I just love Nike so much. But the new me with a daughter takes the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my daughter.”
G.O.O.D Music rapper Big Sean also has a deal with the brand.
